Since 2015, the Lessane Arabi Center has been supporting students from all over the world in learning Modern Standard Arabic and Darija. It offers sound pedagogy, qualified teachers, and is located in the heart of the "Red City" in the quiet Arset Sbaai district, just a stone's throw from Gueliz and the Medina.
Our program
Modern Standard Arabic
The official language of the Arab world in media, literature, science, and politics. The key to a culture shared by more than two billion people.

Semi-intensive
15 hours per week
A well-balanced program for relaxed learning progress. 15 hours per week for a basic course in modern standard Arabic (grammar, vocabulary, spoken and written expression). Ideal for combining studies with exploring Marrakech.
Formula 2
Intensive
20 hours per week
Complete immersion in the language. 20 hours per week, consisting of a basic course in modern standard Arabic and a course in formal spoken Arabic, for rapid and thorough mastery of the language in all its facets.

The offered levels correspond to the CECRL.
Our courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Unless you are a complete beginner, we will determine your language level at the start of your course and select the most suitable level from our six learning levels.
A1
Beginner
Écriture, pronunciation, bases
Introductory course for absolute beginners. You will learn Arabic script and pronunciation, how to form simple sentences, and the basics of grammar. No prior knowledge is required.
A2
Elementary
Grammar and vocabulary
Deepening of grammar and vocabulary beyond the basics. Promotion of listening and reading comprehension as well as oral expression through the introduction of more complex grammatical structures.
B1
Intermediate
Lecture, editorial work, media
You will read increasingly authentic texts, write your first texts yourself, and improve your reading comprehension. There is also the option to specialize within the course "Arabic in the Media" (Moroccan press, radio, television).
B2
Intermédiaire supérieur
Sources complexes and techniques
Improve your language skills by working with challenging texts: lectures, specialist articles, technical documents. You will gain in independence and precision.
C1
Advanced
Classical and modern texts
The lessons focus on authentic texts, both classical and modern. Students learn about the stylistic differences between literary genres and write extensive essays.

Our programme
Colloquial Moroccan Arabic (Darija)
Darija is the Arabic dialect spoken in everyday life on the streets of Morocco. Easier to learn than Modern Standard Arabic, it's the ideal choice for anyone wanting to live or work in Morocco. Courses are offered year-round, without a fixed schedule and with a completely customized program.
Level 1
Beginners ~80 hours
Discover the basics of Darija: pronunciation, important everyday expressions, and initial conversations. In approximately 80 hours, you will learn the fundamentals and be able to begin conversing with Moroccans in a simple way.
Level 2
Intermediate level ~80 hours
Deepen your knowledge of the dialect with an expanded vocabulary, more advanced grammatical structures, and more natural conversations. In approximately 80 hours, you will gain more confidence in everyday situations.
Level 3
Advanced ~80 hours
Achieve fluency comparable to that of a native speaker: cultural nuances, idioms, and spontaneous conversations on various topics. In approximately 80 hours, you will speak Darija confidently and naturally.
Our in-house program
Since Darija is not an academic language, we have developed our own teaching materials: a grammar, conversation and vocabulary book, a verb book, and a half-day cultural introduction.
Can it be combined with Modern Standard Arabic? This is possible, provided that both languages are treated as clearly separate languages in order not to mix the learning process.
